Radio Gunk – A Chat with The Callers

Posted on Jul 2, 2017 by in Radio Gunk | 4 comments

Today we have a discussion with Tommy from Malden and Chad from St. Louis to figure out exactly why someone would stay on hold for four hours just to have 2 mins worth of air-time. We also touch on just how many callers became actual employees, and why. Enjoy!
**Apologies in advance for Tommy’s liberal use of the N-Wurd, we tolerate it, but do not condone it**

  1. Interesting to have “Chad” in this session as the dissenting adversarial voice to the normal crew. It was interesting listening to the regular hosts kind of politely push through and allow the interference in their regular narrative.

Wouldn’t want to hear him regularly, but having him on and allowing him to push back with his own annoying thoughts helps bring some validity and authenticity to the podcast.

    Thank you for the content.

  2. I listened to the whole show just to here a john song at the end and nothing ! What the hell? Every show must end with john singing please

  3. The podcast Howie called into was Gary mier’s. Steve Dahl’s long time partner

  4. 1:52:50 – Personally, I think that Stern doesn’t want a comedian’s chair anymore for the same reason that he did away with all the 101 shows; because he wants to keep the focus on him. IMO, by 2009, Stern came to resent that people liked Artie’s personality over Howard’s (proven by the HTV Q-rating episode). For starters, Stern probably doesn’t want to risk that the same thing happens again. Stern doesn’t want people preferring the comedian cast member of his show more than they prefer Stern’s “comedy”. However, I’m sure there are a plethora of other reasons as well. BTW – The shows keep getting better and better. Well Done!
