Doing what? Still carrying eggs not ready to lay yet!!!
Praying mantises lay eggs in a protective casing called an ootheca. After mating, the female produces a frothy substance mixed with eggs that hardens into this foam-like case. The ootheca is laid in late summer or fall and can contain dozens or even hundreds of eggs to protect them through the winter.
