The man on the cover of Led Zeppelin’s fourth album is Lot Long (1823–1893), a Victorian-era roof thatcher from Wiltshire, England. The image was taken from a colorized photograph found by Robert Plant in an antique shop in Reading, England, which was meant to represent a contrast between old rural life and modern urban development.
